Very good book, goes into a lot of low level detail. I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that is is a bit out of date. It discussed MongoDB version 2.4.0 but the latest version is 3.2 and there have been a lot of improvements in MongoDB since 2.4.0.

MongoDB is totally different now in 2019. This book is six years old. Nothing in this book works anymore. Especially with regard to sharding...

I've checked for updates to the ebook on Oreilly but it doesn't look like they have incorporated changes. That being said, I haven't found another book for beginners so this might be it.

Well written, doesn't dwell on anything and moves at a nice pace. You could get a lot out of this book if you just need to know some MongoDB and not how to shard and distribute (even though it has all that). Great book to pick up. I learned most of what I needed to know in just a couple nights of reading. Lots more material if I needed to start deploying to production, and feel like I could do that with this book alone.

Good book. Explains everything in clear detail but based on old releases. New mongoDB releases have things which invalidates several limitations mentioned in this book.

After reading this book, I've totally fallen in love with MongoDB! Ms. Chodorow has provided a very easy to understand, highly comprehensive work on MongoDB; with example code for each MongoDB concept. It is definitely a classic and a "Must-have" for any decent NoSQL Document programmer.

I did not find this book helpful for my specific class/needs. There may be better documentation out there, as there is little on the IOT.

Good book if you are running pre-mongo 2.6, some of the commands in the book have been deprecated (e.g. addUser). It does however have some good general mongo information

First let's define what this book is. It is a set of practice exam questions... 3 exams for FF1 and 3 exams for FF2. The exams in each section build on each other. The book contains the answer key that also gives you the reference (book/page) to the correct answer. There is a process that book outlines that I think is a good one and should be followed.My issues: I found at least one incorrect answer (Minor issue). While the questions in this book are good and cover a wide range of material, there really weren't that many questions that helped me with the exams that I took in the State of Kansas (KF&RTI). This book may have more applicability to other state exams than mine. So while I like the book, I wouldn't recommend it for any taking the exam in Kansas, your mileage may vary.

I utilized a prep book from this author about 3 years ago for the hazmat OLR exam. It was perfect and I passed no problem. Practically all the questions were verbatim from the OLR prep book. When I found this for fire instructor 1, I was pretty excited. I studied all the instructor 1 portion of the book which was roughly 300 questions and I knew them inside & out. Unfortunately for me, I spent almost all my time with and only with this book. I just took the pro board written exam today 10/24/14 and was completely dumbfounded by the end of it. There were maybe ten questions tops from the entire prep book that were even remotely similar. The rest of the exam was quite different and was not touched on at all in the prep book. I'm not even sure I passed..., the other 90 I tried tackling with common sense and what I recalled from class. This needs to be updated or changed. Very very disappointed. You're better off saving your $$ abd using the prep questions provided by the original book / cds / online.

I bought this book and it completely helped on the Fire Fighter I exam. I scored a 95%, which was higher than I anticipated, but this book made me feel very confident, which was what I was looking for. I also passed the Fire Fighter II with this book. 84% on FFII.I was really surprised how many questions on the exam I had seen in this book. It was the first exam that I was actually amused taking it because I had seen everything before. In the end, I am glad I bought it because confidence never hurts!!

Passed first time no problem at the Massachusetts Fire Academy. Many questions in this book were on the academy test.

I hold a graduate degree and wanted to volunteer in my community. Firefighting 1 required the textbook Delmar, Firefighter's Handbook, 2nd Edition. Since the required textbook contains several hundred pages of unfamiliar material I bought the book primarily because I needed an aid to outline the important areas to study.Although each question is not explained in detail. The answer key refers to various textbook pages for your research. A few HAZMAT questions are covered on the FF1 material, however, this book does not cover that material.The following books are referenced in each answer key: Delmar, Firefighter's Handbook, 3rd Edition; IFSTA, Essentials of Firefighting and Department Operations 5th Edition; Jones and Bartlett, NFPA, Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills, 2nd Edition. I had no problems researching the material in Delmar, Firefighter's Handbook, 3rd Edition although the Academy required use of the Delmar's 2nd Edition.Pros: the information is easily laid out for review. The information is relevant to FF 1 and 2 although most of my graduating class passed the exam without this study book. I believe they could have improved their scores with this study material as well as increased their personal knowledge. This book will help you become more engaged in the subject matter.Study Plan: A successful student will read the course material (Fundamentals of Fire Fighter Skills, 2nd Edition) and pay very close attention to the Academy Instructors during classes and field training (listen to everything they say; they welcome questions). The instructors in New Hampton, New York are very well versed in their specific areas of expertise. They take their jobs seriously, have a passion to teach, and want you to succeed. Then, use this study guide to enhance your knowledge of the subject matter. If you have the money go for it although you can pass Firefighter 1 without this book if you know what to study.

I bought this book after the academy and used it before I took my state test in Missouri. I passed both fire 1 and 2 so I would say it definitely helped me pass my exams. A little outdated but it covers everything you learn in the academy. I would recommend this book to any firefighter in trainning. Good luck!

This book introduces a logical approach for the design of synthetic routes to reasonably complex organic molecules from simple starting materials. It describes the concept of 'retrosynthesis', which allows suitable simple starting materials to be identified; the importance of bond polarity and functional group interconversions; how to find an effective route to a target molecule containing more than one functional group; and valuable strategies to adopt when designing syntheses. The text also includes a review of methods for the control of chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectivity, and a discussion of protecting groups. Finally four syntheses of the pyrrolidine alkaloids are compared and contrasted using the principles described in the book. Practice examples are provided throughout the book.
